EP 21: Nikki Jurcutz- "Tiny Hearts Education, The danger of Forums, Sleeping Rollercoasters, Constant Feedback From Others & Having Strong Boundaries in the Fourth Trimester”

Nikki Jurkutz- Tiny Hearts Education Season 2 Episode 21

Today we are so excited to have chatted with Nikki Jurcutz - CEO of ‘Tiny Hearts Education’ which we all know that our listeners avidly follow. As a paramedic, when Nikki would often be called to jobs where, had parents been confident with simple first aid, the outcome could have been very different. So, Rach and Nikki created their baby first aid course to help parents and caregivers, just like you, feel confident, educated and empowered to act in a first-aid emergency with their little one.

Eight years later, their dream has grown beyond comprehension. They have developed more courses and products with one vital mission in mind: help parents and caregivers navigate their journey with confidence. Nikki is also a mumma to her girl Nahla and boy Wolf– she has had wild birth stories of both babies but we want to look at her 4th trimester/ her Motherhood experiences and unpack all of the burning questions that you have for her as parents.

We talk Motherhood, birthing Tiny Hearts Education,  the danger of forums, sleeping rollercoasters, constant feedback from others & having strong boundaries in the fourth trimester, the cold sore virus and SO much more!

Soph: Before we begin, we are grateful to live and work on land that holds the stories of the Dreamtime. We pay our respects and honor the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past, present & emerging and acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of our First Nations People.

Soph: Today we welcome Nikki - CEO of ‘Tiny Hearts Education’ which we all know that our listeners avidly follow.

Hays: Eight years later, their dream has grown beyond comprehension. Soph and I would be so  lost without your guidance, reels and posts on Instagram.

Soph: Welcome Nikki, we are HUGE fans of all that you do and are truly PUMPED to have you with us today. To kick off, have you got a funny Motherhood story for us?

Hays: Now, we understand that with Nahla and Wolf that you had emergency c-sections- how was your feeding journey after this. Did you have to pump with either of your bubs?

Soph: We know that you say, “Tiny Hearts started with a dream that someday we could educate parents and caregivers, just like you, to save a little life”- that dream has definitely become a HUGE reality…How did you and your sister birth this booming business that helps so many families on a daily basis?

Hays: We have some Q and A’s from our listeners- we are going to ask you some-        1. What are the biggest dangers when implementing solids?

Soph: 2. What is the biggest misconception or the biggest ‘red flags’ that new parents tend to overlook and then that's when problems unfortunately occur?

Hays: 3. What does a day in the life of Nikki look like? For example, what are some of the challenges that may arise throughout your day as a mumma and business owner and how do you navigate those?

Soph: 4. What has been the most beautiful aspect of Motherhood for you?

Hays: 5. Sleep- we have seen your blog post and you offer the evidence and facts so that people can make informed decisions on their own as it is such a contentious topic- how did your sleep go with your bubs?

Soph: 6. What do you find most rewarding about what you do (apart from saving little lives obviously)?

Hays: 7. Other than investing in first aid and purchasing those beautiful kits that you have (listeners check them out if you haven’t already), as parents what’s your second must do for expecting parents to help prepare them for the 4th trimester?

Soph: 8. The Cold sore virus and kissing babies- talk us through that as we have read your blog post about it (Nahla getting it) but we still feel that parents forget and SO many people still kiss babies..

Hays: Now back to our final questions- Knowing all of the risks and sharing your information on social media and your blog, do you find that you are hyper vigilant with your two kids? For example, have you ever been in a situation where you have had to use any of your own training and overall expertise on your own children?

Soph: What's one thing that you do for yourself if you can to recharge and replenish?

Hays: What one piece of advice you wish you had been told to better prep you for parenthood?

Soph: Here we are all about helping and empowering parents much like you and Rach. Can you tell us about your newest course ‘Bump, Birth and Beyond?’

Hays: Can you give us three words that summarise Motherhood so far for you?

Hays Outro: Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise. We just love you and all that you do and have the utmost respect for you. This episode will help so many mothers and parents.
